Rich, Decadent Chocolate ~ the perfect treat

Do you know someone who loves a rich tasting chocolate drink? You? Hmmmm ~ you're a person after my own heart.

Mayesa Chocolate is indulgent, rich, decadent but still a healthy alternative to soda's, energy drinks and many of the coffees and shakes available. Mayesa is made from hemp protein rice, and select spices - without any kind of dairy! It's packed full of nutrients and immunity boosting antioxidants. It suppresses hunger, increases clarity, energizes and replenishes your stamina throughout the day.

Mayesa is based off the original chocolate drink created by the Mayan's hundreds of years ago. Mostly Mayan & Aztec nobility used it but it was also used for medicinal, religious and cultural reasons. They roasted and ground the beans from the Theobroma cacao tree and combined it with aromatic flowers, vanilla and wild honey to make a bitter, spicy drink that could be drunk hot or cold. Eventually this drink made it's way back to Spain where sugar was added to sweeten it and eventually a way to mass produce it enabled everyone to enjoy a more affordable drink.

My thoughts:
I was really excited to find a drink that was dairy free and nutritional also. I liked the idea of having a drink that I could throw in my purse and take to work. I didn't particularly care for the drink cold - I found it a little too bitter for me - but I can see how someone who enjoys bitter foods (ie - coffee) will really like this drink. I'll have to try it warm and maybe I should try adding a little honey or something to sweeten it up for me.

I did a giveaway earlier in December and the winner (Laura Wheeler) won a set of the chocolate - there is the original and also a mint version of the drink. These would be fun to add to a teens or adults Christmas stocking, as a Secret Santa gift or just because. I have a feeling we'll be seeing people on the go enjoying these drinks all the time. =D
