World Vision - End of Year Giving

Isn't that amazing? To think that our little pittance can make that kind of a difference to a family, a community and a country  - one cow at a time!

There are just a few days left to 2011 and I want to challenge you to 2 things:

1) Sit down with your spouse and your family to consider if you can afford to share $25, $50, $100 - or even $1000 to help a family in need.
2) Commit to set aside a jar - it can be quart size, gallon size - even a pickle jar to fill up with coins or dollars & encourage your children to put their change in it too. Save up the pennies you find on the street, the money in the couch - even the money found in pockets when you do the laundry. At the end of the year, take that jar and sit down with your children to go through the "Wish Book" from World Vision. (Learn More)

Your $25 can provide:

Give a gift that's too big for a box and a bow!

2011 tax deadline:
Donate before midnight EST (9 p.m. PST) on Dec. 31, 2011.

Win one of these darling little goats - they are an example of the little goats you can donate to a family and are a wonderful reminder to your children of how they are helping another family. At the same time, I am also donating a set of 2 books from Lee and Low Publishing so you can learn about the culture of some of the countries served through World Vision. You can read my review here. I'll add those pics here in about an hour.

  3. I learned that you can directly connect with the families you help via World Vision's page. A gift of only $25 can provide a family in Sri Lanka to Zambia with 2 chickens.

  4. The best gift I have given (collectively) is when my family sponsored a child in Guatemala and it was so nice to receive letters from him and his family. His name was Luis and he would draw us pictures. It was an easy way to really make a difference in one child's life.
